SID: So, You Want to be a Non-Profit Director

13 June 2018

Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) would like to invite Charities to its latest edition of So, You Want To Be A NonProfit Director.

It is one thing to be a director in a for-profit organisation, it is very different being a director of a nonprofit organisation or charity. The majority of board members for nonprofit organisations serve as volunteers without compensation. Notwithstanding this, they are fiduciaries who steer the organisation towards a sustainable future by adopting sound governance and financial management policies. You will come up close and personal with directors who are deeply involved in the nonprofit sector.
This session will cover essential aspects of the directorship landscape in Singapore pertaining to nonprofit organisations, the key differences between a commercial and a nonprofit board, a nonprofit director’s duties, responsibilities, liabilities and benefits and the director's journey.
Subsidy for Eligible Seniors
There is a National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy of $83 per eligible senior (subject to a cap of 100 eligible seniors who are Singapore citizens and Permanent residents aged 50 and above in the year of course commencement.
